MARCO BERTIN 马可 拜尔汀
Marco Bertìn was born in Italy in 1954.
Lives and works in Verona.
He started to be interested in the contemporary art in the 80ies of last century. He uses mainly photography in his works.
Following in his father’s footsteps, he started to exhibit as a sur- realist painter when he was 16.
He studied art, journalism and cultural anthropology. Later on he abandoned painting for dedicating himself to conceptual art. Between 1975 and 1980 he implemented large-sized works (land art) and body art performances. He also started to use photog- raphy.
With the advent of the transavanguarde, stating a return to the use of painting, the anachronistic prospect of going back to paint- ing persuaded him to get involved in artistic photography.
He studied history of photography and the artistic expressions of the most famous photographers, and while teaching at the Acad- emy, he started his personal photographical research.
After more than twenty years of activity, during which he pro- duced seven books, several other publications, and personal ex- hibitions all over Europe, he returned to his never forgotten love for the contemporary art.
Fortified by the wide technical experience acquired through pho- tography, he began to produce large-sized photographs, in the language of the contemporary art, but with an aesthetical added value.
He wrote: “My images are not documentations of actions. They are aesthetical interpretations of concepts.”
